M&MS vs. Addams Family Lawsuit

Hot on the heels of a lawsuit charging they infringed on the image of Times Square icon "The Naked Cowboy," the makers of M&Ms have been slapped with a $10 million federal suit for using characters from the old "Addams Family" TV series in their dark-chocolate candy ads.

A freelance entertainment broker is suing Mars Inc., claiming she originally pitched the concept of having characters from the 1960s-era show interact with animated M&Ms in an ad to cross-promote the release of an "Addams Family" DVD.

On a related note...

Have you seen that insurance commercial where they use the Munster's house? It's just a bit creepy and not in a good way. It's really only one step away from the ads with Fred Astaire dancing with the vacuum.

Becca,

Haha, no, I think I somehow missed seeing that one. Now I'm going to have to go check it out on youtube...

i am looking for a picture or pictures of the addamses as m&ms. my husband absolutely loves the family to the point that we took shifts to be able to tape the entire series when tvland ran the entire series ran the weekend showcase. we are missing either 8 or 11 episodes because the idiots at tv land didn't plan their weekend quite right and when we compared the web site to our final transfers to dvd it came up short.

But i got off point, i have gone to many sites trying to find pictures of the m&ms without success. Have you found them?
thank you,

hollersnscents,

Sorry, I took a look around, but there doesn't seem to be any nice, high-quality pics of the Addamses as M&Ms... yet. Since, I imagine, a few people out there have the commercial taped in high quality, it's probably only a matter of time before the commercial or some screen shots show up on the internet (in highter quality than what's on youtube). When that happens, I'll be sure to make a post of it on this blog.

If you're still looking for any missing episodes of the show, the series is now available on DVD. You can also watch it on Hulu.com for free.
